>>I see by your post Don, that you are still "transferring lots of ver 1.9 multimedia questions into our ver 2.3 question bank" and that is my exact frustration with Moodle.
For me, it is a frustration, too, but because the transfer gives us so much more stability, I am willing to do it. In 1.9, I had far more problems with multimedia files because the the audio files were always being split from the quiz question. This is because multimedia were contained in outside folders that were not always connected when quizzes were moved. I work on a teaching team and we are constantly sharing and revising questions. So far we have had none of the past problems we had in 1.9.
Now in 2.x, once the transfer is complete the quiz questions are solid because the audio/image files are embedded within the question itself rather than in course files or site files. Also, I had problems in 1.9 because permissions to access audio were determined by the course and other set roles. Now those permission problems are gone. Whereever I put a quiz, the learners never see a blank box where the image or audio should be.
If your complaint is that the upgrade process was not automatic, I agree, that would have been great. However, I see that as *my* problem, because I see myself and every other user as a co-developer. I could have raised funds to programme an automatic quiz updater from 1.9 to 2.x if I had taken the time. Likewise, you and others could do the same.
