I have tried Installing DragMath from the non-CVS Zip (http://docs.moodle.org/en/DragMath_equation_editor#Installing_DragMath).
I have downloaded the zipped file and unzipped it in the /moodle folder. I have also verified manually whether all the files were in their respective folders or not. Everything seems to be fine but still i m unable to get 'PI' symbol .
Running moodle 1.9.7 on vista.
Attempting to use DragMath v0.7.8.1.
Kindly someone help me.
Thanks.
problem with dragmath installation

Do you mean the symbol in htmlarea menu so you can invoke dragmath? Pi symbol was replaced by alpha under radical. If you don't see it then you need to clear your cache and refresh. While this should have nothing to do with the OS, I can't comment on what issues you may encounter trying to run moodle on MS Vista. You are probably using Internet Explorer as well.............
The install does place a variety of other files in your Moodle, and you can use the URL to check that dragmath itself is working, as in http://fqdn/lib/editor/htmlarea/plugins/DragMath/demo.html

Re: problem with dragmath installation
I m using Firefox.
I understand that I it is not the Pi symbol and also it has nothing to do with my OS.
What all files need to be placed and where should I place them in the Moodle?
Dragmath is working, this I checked using URL as you suggested. But I m unable to use it from Moodle.
Thanks.

Re: problem with dragmath installation
Sorry but I do not understand how you came to conclusions you state, nor am I sure of issue now.
Your first post suggested that button for dragmath not there. You also confirmed that all files in proper place. Dragmath overwrites three files, so using the zip provided should overwrite them, BUT, I have been told tham some windows users unzip and then tell their unzipped NOT to overwrite, which results in not overwriting the files and hence, not making dragmath available via htmlarea.
At any rate am not sure if new icon still not present and you have not indicated you flushed cache. Or is new icon there but not invoking? Please provide specifics of what you mean by "not working".

Re: problem with dragmath installation
Lets assume that I have done nothing and start from scratch. What should I do to integrate Dragmath with Moodle ?
Thanks.
Re: problem with dragmath installation
All you need to do is put the zip in your moodle root and unzip (making sure that your unzip overwrites the three pre-existing files.) Flush your browser cache and open htmlarea and the $$\sqrt{\alpha}$$ icon should be there.
Re: problem with dragmath installation
I too have also followed these simple instructions, and DragMath does not seem to load at all.
I am particularly interested in your comment: making sure that your unzip overwrites the three pre-existing files.
If I look closely at the .zip file, all files are extracted to a folder /DragMath in the root of /usr/moodle. No files are placed in lib/htmlarea (or anywhere else for that matter)
So if it creates a new folder DragMath and extracts all the files into it ... what files is it going to overwrite?
For reference, the zip file I have downloaded is DragMath_v0.7.8.1.zip from SourceForge.
Am I missing something?
Mike

Re: problem with dragmath installation
Mike,
if you follow the simple instructions that Marc has written to docs http://docs.moodle.org/en/DragMath_equation_editor and read also http://moodle.org/mod/data/view.php?d=13&rid=1454&filter=1 you don't load files from SourceForge if you want to use Dragmath with moodle. You can download the latest version for moodle 1.9.X directly from http://tracker.moodle.org/secure/attachment/18040/dragmathintegration_v0.7.8.1_final.zip
When you unzip that package there is a folder lib and inside lib folder 2 subfolders: DragMath and editor
The latter one overwrites a couple of files of editor (htmlarea) and the files of dragmath plugin itself are in folder DragMath...
Re: problem with dragmath installation
Thanks for your prompt reply Mauno
I came accross DragMath via their own website so I simply downloaded their version via their site and then followed their instructions ... didn't realise there was another version.
