Just speaking with my Maths faculty person about how Moodle aggregates marks.
Is there an option to add tests (quizzes etc) after all tests have been rescaled (using z scores) to have the same mean and SD before they are added and/or a weighting is applied?
Why is this important? I'm assuming that some tests are easier than others - eg a score of 80 means something very different if the class average was 65 than if the class average was 85.
It is not statistically correct to add scores unless the exam averages are very similar. Does that make sense?
Would be keen to hear your thoughts..... nor sure if it's possible to use z scores?
