Its good to know that someone is diving in a deep part of the moodle ocean no one seems to have tried before.
Apart from wishing you all the best and hoping that everything works out you could consider load balancing /peformance issues when you have somemany users accessing your application concurrently.
I 've seen this load balancing software ( citrix) at work and you might want to find out how it could fit in.
I 'll be here to lend a listening ear , because who knows - I might find myself swimming your part of the ocean someday - and I'll really need to listen to you.
