every time you upgrade, you overwrite your Moodle source files with the new version. The version.php you sent me is not from 1.9.7. It is 1.9.6 or lower.

If I were you, I would try to analyse what was done wrong during the upgrade. Make and archive the backup of your database and PHP sources. Anyway, your current issue with the workshop should be fixed by downloading the recent 1.9.7+ Moodle files and uploading them to your site (overwriting the current code). Then visit your site administration page to finish the procedure.
