Is there any way to add a comment bank to the gradebook (similar to the one in the workshop module) so that a teacher can quickly and easily insert pre-written comments on essays?

Hi Chris, if you mean some kind of pre-filled re-usable template for bulk-commenting, then there is no such option, so you will need to copy/paste that manually in case of the gradebook.
