When you are registered on to a forum, you recieve all messages post to that forum. Is it possible to set to a particular thread? So that you will only receive messages related to the thread or topic that you are interested in.

In answer to your question, no, I am afraid it is not possible to subscrible to particular threads to the exclusion of other threads in the same forum. Subscriptions to forums is on a per forum basis. It has been discussed quite a lot here before, under a topic entitled something like Moodle spam I think.
The per forum subscriptions does have an advantage however, like being in an open plan office, or living in a dormatory rather than a single room, in that it fosters a community. Sure there is not much privacy and quite a lot of extraneous noise, but at least here at Moodle.org, it seems to be working.
