I have read a couple of posts about how to include sound in a question but there is one thing that is not clear. Are the audio files kept on the server, where Moodle is kept, or are they kept on the individual workstation? If they are kept on the server, in what location are they kept?
You upload sound files to the appropriate file bank of the course into where you want them to play - so if you look at a course, then course admin>files, you can upload and/or find them there.

You can use Mary cooch comment if you are wanting to access it using the API.
But if you want the location of files in means of directory structure here it goes.
All your course related & site related data files are stored in
Moodledata(Or your custom data directory)/course_id/
