Java script and Footers

Hello!

Time for me to show how non-technical I am again:

If I use some javascript in my footer.html file, will it conflict with the code or functions of other parts of my site?

I have added some text to the footer file.  I want to hyperlink it and have the content open in a new window, like other resources on my site.  I also want only 'scrolling' and 'window resize' on while everything else is off.  Moodle gives us non-techies a nice GUI to do that for our resources so we just check boxes!  I want to do it for the text I added in the footer too, so I googled and found a site that generates code for me to put in the <head> section of the file.  I found it at: http://www.webdevtips.com/webdevtips/codegen/openwin.shtml

I know my other resources use Moodle's generated stuff to show things in new windows with the settings I want and so (not knowing about how the insides of all this really works) I'm worried that putting this code into my footer may result in conflicts and/or errors down the road.

Can someone please advise me?  Am I being too careful?

Thanks a bunch!

Tan
