I was just having a play with Moodle 2.0dev. I notice that the 'topic1, topic2....' in the course seem to have taken on much greater prominence in the navigation. I might have missed a trick somewhere but I can't see any way to change those to an actual title for the topic.
I've always felt a bit uncomfortable by 'Topic #' really not meaning or telling the user anything. This is backed up by it being the most requested modification we get asked for - "can you get rid of those meaningless numbers please!".
+1 for getting rid of those meaningless "topic #n" labels !
MDL-20628 has now been resolved, you are now able to name course section and have it reflected in both the course display and the navigation.
Just looking at the QA testing site... you can now choose a heading for your topic section and it displays that name in the navigation rather than the generic "topic 1 "etc etc, which is great but - looking at the tracker it suggests the topic numbers could be eliminated altogether as the words topic outline at the top. Am I being too keen/too premature here -or have I missed the setting to do this - or is it just not going to happen?
