Getting emails from Forum

I have a old 1.5 Moodle (it is old, but it works fine, so I didn't update it yet).

My students are getting emails in their mailboxes when I post messages in the News forum (the subscription is forced "yes, forever"). But I don't get emails from them when they post new discussions/answers.

I'm subscribed to all forums (at least this is what I did and what I see in the forum list). And, when I post, I always use the "send me email copies of posts to this forum" option.

Is this a known "bug" of Forums in Moodle 1.5? Is there a solution? Or can I hack the code to overcome the problem? If upgrading the forum module is the only solution, did someone already did the update from 1.5 (and was it safe)?

Check your user profile and make sure that your email address is not disabled. If this is this case, then you won't receive any emails from Moodle.

Hopefully this is the issue, otherwise let us know

I fixed our problem by making sure roles are defined at the system level.
