Can I recover deleted assignment and grades?

A faculty meant to simply remove an assignment from display since the deadline to complete it was past.  However, she must have deleted the assignment completely because it no longer shows up.  The grades that she gave for that assignment are also no longer available in the students gradebook.

Can I recover the assignment and the grades?
I am using Moodle 1.9.5+

If your Moodle is set up to take daily backup you can restore the course or restore part(s) of it. But only until the backupfile is replaced by a new one. Go to your administration block in the course, and hit the restore link.
