Authentication

Hello there all Moodlers!

I have many Moodle sites using FirstClass (FC) authentication method.
The authentication works nice but when Moodle fetches the first and last-name all non [a-z 0-9] chars is trimmed off.

Here in Sweden we have ÅÄÖ in alot of our names, when logging in with one of those char in the first or last-name, Moodle cuts the string and replaces the char with a questionmark.

Is there anyway of enabling Moodle or PHP to understand UTF-8? I have tried the "fetch-the-names" commands in FC and the names are outputted correctly, so the errors are not in FC..

Hope someone else has experienced the same thing and have clue how to fix this.
