Apologies for my lack of understanding / background here.
We create hundreds of courses identical but for the students and teachers enrolled and are trying to find the simplest way to go about it.
1. If you specify enrolment with External Database (one which includes course and user ids) this populates the Course ID Number and ...optional:...ID numbers (user) in moodle automatically??? By doing this it avoids having to manually specify user and course numbers when users and courses are first set up which would be a pain???
(From info in moodle...your external database contains a field containing a course ID, and a field containing a user ID. These are compared against fields that you choose in the local course and user tables..)
2. A flat file can then be used very simply to marry students/teachers and courses???
A simpler alternative to the above for us (tho database may be easier in long term) might be to use a text file format: username, password, firstname, lastname, email, course1, course2, course3(which works well) but as far as I know this can't specify student or teacher.
Is there any way to to modify this to upload users in this way but specify if they are teacher or student in each of the courses listed e.g. course1, teacher, course2, student?
Finally....Is there any way to generate copies of courses allowing for new assignments of students and teachers other than manual backup / restore / add new participants?
Thanks for your patience.
