Is it possible for the questionnaire when launched, to remain within the course page (so that left and right blocks remain visable)? The questionnaire would then appear between them in the central area.
Launching questionnaire with Course blocks still in place

Re: Launching questionnaire with Course blocks still in place
we want a wide range of users to be able to to access menu items to help them answer a question as and when they reach a question that makes them feel the need to do so.
a html block on the left would be good enough, i could recreate the menu items in that
any chance?
Re: Launching questionnaire with Course blocks still in place
Thanks for clarifying. Again I stress that the questionnaire display is the normal behavior for all moodle activities. If you want questionnaire respondents to be able to get specific help while they are answering the questionnaire, there are various ways to do so. You might put some keywords into the text of some questions, and enter ad hoc "definitions" in a Glossary, so the students would see highlighted words, click on those, and the familiar Glossary window would pop up.
You might also simply put HTML links, again in the text of questions, for students to click and open a new window (or tab). The main point is that any link you provide should NOT take the student away from the Questionnaire being responded to. That is not too easy to achieve.

Re: Launching questionnaire with Course blocks still in place
Thanks Joseph,
The glossary link is a powerful tool.
I have put links to the documents / html pages into the questionnaire, but they show in the body of it not as a left hand menu.
These links (or indeed menu items to the left) would always open a new window, so never affecting the integrity of the questionnaire.
So, is it possible to put a menu to the left?
Re: Launching questionnaire with Course blocks still in place
Tony, here is a workaround solution, based on my contribution to this quiz discussion.
1- Modify your current Questionnaire theme, by adding these CSS rules at the end of the theme you are using, e.g. default:
.addInfo {position: fixed; top: 130px; left: 0px;width:200px; border: #666666 thin solid; } #mod-questionnaire-view .box.generalbox { width:auto; margin-left:200px; margin-right:auto; }
If you want to have this "pseudo-block" displayed only for certain of your questionnaires, then you might copy the existing default theme to e.g. default_block.css.
2- In your questionnaire, go to the Advanced Settings tab and switch to the modified theme default_block (or keep default if you need the "block" for all your questionnaires).
In the Additional Info box, type your "help links". Save.
See attached screen shot for result. Please note that, if your questionnaire's questions extend beyond one screen page, the pseudo-block will still be displayed, as it will "follow" the scroll-down. This may not work in all browsers, so needs to be tested before putting on a production server. Tested in FF.
