Hi

I've installed the latest version of DragMath on my latest server hosted at bluehost.

The editor shows DragMath button. The pop up comes out and I can actually finish the "insert": $$ \frac{9}{5} $$ on a web page in moodle.

I click save and here's the page:

dragmath%20copy.jpg

I have used Drag Math for a few years on another server. I don't understand what the problem is.

Here is my configuration:

Moodle: 1.9.5+ (Build: 20090527)

Filters on: TeX Notation, Algebra Notation, Tidy, ...etc

Server php: 5.2.9

safe mode: off

Apache: 2.2.13 (Unix)

Anything I should give here?

Any Idea? Your help is highly appreciated. Urgent frankly! Thanks in advance.

Yours

James

If no tex is rendered you should probably change permissions of mimetex executable file (check the correct version of file according to your operation system) in folder filter/tex correct permission to execute... or if your server allows use of server side latex distribution you should check the correct paths to latex executable binaries from your tex filter administration menu.

If that happens only to some particular mathematical notations check the syntax of those notations - latex can't usually render extra unicode characters inside mathematical notations.

Thanks. May I know what files exactly I should check?

There are a few, are they....

1. .../moodledata/filter/tex ..... permission should be ??

2.  .../www/moodle/filter/tex/?? .....which file(s)? what permission??

Any files else?

Thanks

I think your server should automatically give moodledata correct permissions

On windows server filter/tex/mimetex.exe,
on linux filter/tex/mimetex.linux, ...

If you are not sure about your server operating system give all those 4 files starting with "mimetex" permission to read and execute that file.

Your host might be able to tell about possibility to use server side latex and the paths to those files (Latex and ImageMagick or Ghostscript) - on hosted sites such service is not usually available.

Thanks, they are working now.

FYI, it is Linux

the directory is .../www/moodle/filter/mimetex.... (four files).

Permission changed to 744.

Thanks again.
