That talks about constructivism and includes links to quite a few nice resources.

This gist of it is that students learn best when doing as opposed to passively observing. So you should use Moodle as a means to manage/encourage/foster activities that involve the students performing tasks and actively engaging rather than just as a means to present material and then assess.
