I was messing with parent role/mentees today trying to get it to do what we want - but reading through a number of threads, I can say I'm just disappointed in the feature/implementation
There is no simple way for a parent to login and just see in a concise form:
What assignments are pending for their students
What the student's grade is in all courses
Lots of obtuse clicking needed and the extra work of enrolling parents in all the courses just seems to be bad implementation.
When a parent goes to look at an assignment linked from the grade report - it should just check that a mentee is enrolled in that course and then furnish the details without requiring enrollment.
