Hi All,

I'm a regular browser of the forums and I usually find an answer to my problems without posting but I've been grappling with a CRON problem that I can't fix. I've tried three options:

I first tried the moodlecron windows installation.
I then went on to use the CRONtab on my hosted site (with the help of the hosting company).
I have also tried just refreshing on my browser.

The moodlecron didn't spark any emails, and the other two only seem to prompt the forum notification, not the enrolment or assignment ones. Most importantly, I'm looking for email notification of assignment feedback.

I'm working in a traditional correspondence college (i.e. everything is done by post) and we'll be launching our service for students to start submitting assignments online in just over two weeks time. We hope, int he longer term, to start developing entire courses online but this is a first baby step after seventy years of paper-based correspondence.

If anybody could point out any obvious fixes for this, I'd be very grateful. I'm running 1.4.

Sinéad,
Moodle does not send e-mail notification when an instructor gives Assignment feedback. Forum and Dialogue are the only modules that have this feature, and of course sign up if you have Email-based authentication configured.

What happens when you execute cron manually from the browsers (e.g. http://yoursite.com/moodle/admin/cron.php)? Does this send anything in queue? Do you have a URL for your Moodle site?

Actually Assigment and Journal do send notifications to students...

Not sure why not in Sinead's case though ...

When I execute manually from the browser, the forum notification works, and it locks out idle users, but the assignment notification is still no go. The text looks like this:

I'm not sure how useful this information is - it's a little over my head, I'm afraid. But I'm learning! And I realise it says done for the assignment jobs but it's really not.

I've been re-sending feedback every step of the test but, out of curiosity, would it depend on the problem as to whether or not it would send out the old ones when it did start working? And would it make any difference if it's coming from admin or teacher level?

The url is under wraps, I'm afraid, until we launch in a couple of weeks. But mail me directly and I'll be happy to give you admin rights to poke around.

I'm a big moodle fan, btw, and I'm planning to use it for my research project in this, the final year of my MSc - in particular the wiki module: I'm also a big wiki fan. And it was great to hear your talk in the DCU moot a couple of weeks ago, Martin.

yea..that's the problem for me too. how my student want to register if they didn't get the e-mail. please help me on this.
