Disabling authenticated user ability to edit profile kills Moodle

Disabling authenticated user ability to edit profile kills Moodle

I wanted to prevent users editing their own profile. However when I attempted to log in as a student I kept getting a 404, and I couldn't get past it as on the first login it seems people are forced to edit their profile. Is there any way to stop it forcing the edit profile if ability to edit profile switched off?

Some more information would be useful here.

What is the URL that is causing the 404. I'm very surprised you are getting this error even if they need to edit their profiles.

Do note that a minimum of information is required so if you are going to prevent profile editing you must ensure, 100%, that firstname, lastname and email are in place.
