Blocks on Text Pages/Activity Pages

Blocks on Text Pages/Activity Pages

We have just started using Moodle - so I apologize if I am asking an obvious question.   After doing a demo of a couple of our courses to our intended audience a common area of concern was in the navigation of the course.  When someone is viewing a text page or quiz or some other activity - the look and feel of the page is different - as all the side blocks disappear and they find it difficult to know what to do after completeing that page.   I know that at the top of the page there is a jump pull down with previous and next buttons - but to the user that is not obvious.

1. Is there a plugin or a feature that can be activated that will allow some of the side blocks displaying on resource or activity pages ?

2. Is there a plugin or a feature that can be activated that will allow previous/next buttons further down the page - perhaps at above the footer information?

3. Do any of the navigation plugins add this type of functionality?

Thanks

Janice

Hello Janice, the "sense of lost" is very important. I do not know noting of this plugin. I never hear d about it.

What I ussually do, is to add, for instante in the quiz, a page to be open in moodle once they finnished. Or, most of the times, when a resouce is in pdf I always put select "open in new window". For text, you can use on html page, in which you don't loose the control tab.

Well, there are other course format. Try to use this ones: Flex Page (web like navigation inside course moodle), fn tab (not easy to use at first), or wiki like format. CAREFULL with this last one if you are not an php expert, because you need to remove your acual wiki and intall a new wiki.

Info:
Flex Paget: http://moodle.org/mod/data/view.php?d=13&rid=1080&filter=1

fn tabs: http://moodle.org/mod/data/view.php?d=13&rid=2456&filter=1

wiki like format: http://moodle.org/mod/data/view.php?d=13&rid=570&filter=1

I found this one, but I don't have time to try it: http://moodle.org/mod/data/view.php?d=13&rid=1717&filter=1

Good work. Bye António

Improved navigation (via having blocks on every page) is one of the new features being worked on for Moodle 2.0.
