If you would like to make an offer for moodle.ac, please be generous - our company does not make profits but supports education and research.

What an interesting offer - don't you need agreement from the trademark owner?
SUMS purchased the domain www.moodle.ac a couple of days ago (26 June 2009). The previous owner assures us that copyright issues have never been raised during the period of their ownership.
Our understanding (from previous Forum correspondence going back some time) is that domain names with Moodle in are fine as long as it is always made clear that they are not official Moodle sites. We will always have that as first entry on the site along with a link to Moodle.org
We have plans for a Moodle related service for schools and colleges. We already sell content onto many Moodle sites. It could be that in due course we apply to become Moodle Partners.
If there are any queries arising from this I would be glad to respond.

No problem Martin, but clearer advice would be welcome as to what if anything, we can use it for. If you want it for your own use then its yours.
Thank you Martin. Very generous.
We will certainly consult the helpdesk before using the www.moodle.ac name actively.
We said we would check with you when we started using www.Moodle.ac - I don't think we have access to the helpdesk you suggested some years ago on your last post.
The simple site, which has some way to go, is intended as a place to track Moodle use by UK local authorities and schools. That lets potential future school users identify contacts who might be of help in how schools implement.

Thanks to you both. Email has been sent.
