I am trying to have students sign up for some labs. So I used the choices tool and allocated students into choices eg/ monday 11-1, tuesday 9-11, etc.
The important bit is to be able to get the listing of students from the choices and convert to a group. This way, I can easily access the gradebook and just mark each student.
