I have a folder set up as a resource in a Moodle course. Within the folder I have several files.

I need to track access to these files. Each file is copyrighted and we need to account for how many times the copyrighted materials were accessed.

I have found that in the Reports module, it will only show that the resource (the folder) was accessed, but does not show that any files inside the folder were accessed.

Is there any option that controls that level of detail?

I think you have to create each file as a separate resource if you want to track access. The web server logs will show the file was downloaded, but Moodle logs won't.
