I have the same problem, but only since very recently. I can no longer copy/paste from my excel spreadsheet without the text getting automatically formatted. I think it's because my updated Firefox does no longer allow me to choose the "Moodle auto format" but chooses HTML without me being able to change this.. Everything works fine in Safari.
