Is moodle planns to include webmail module or something like mail...
Quickmail as a sticky block loses its functionality when I try adding it as a sticky block. It does not display the Compose or History link. But when added to each individual course separately it works fine. I have installed Moodle 1.9.4. But it did not fix the problem. I have over 200 courses.
Do you know if other institute use internal email in Moodle other than quickmail?
I have downloaded the email block installed it and found it has great features in it, but still hesitant to apply it yet.
You might find "quickmail for large classes" (aka quickmail v2) lightweighted and super fast. We use it (and developed) here at SFSU. I'm not that familiar with the sticky block feature so I will have to test it out with quickmail v2. I'm hoping that somehow I could find some time to finish my quickmail v2 enhancement project so that it would be fully compatible with the new 1.9 and 2.0 codebases. Currently it should work with 1.9.x codes with minor known issues (such as we intentionally disabled the GROUP support in v2). Hope this helps!
The folder and contacts organization and functions are not as user-friendly as I would like, but that it from an Admin point of few. For teachers and students with only a handfull of courses, I'm sure its much easier to work with.
I like that it does send notification to your external email address, notates unread course mail sitwide (regardless of which course you are in), and allows folder organization.
I think we had to find and install the en_utf8 langue folder to make notification emails display regular text instead of database-type strings. You prbably want to edit some of the language strings (like changing 'sent' to 'from') to make more sense, and you can also edit the message included in notification emails.
Hi Sharon; Thank you for getting back to me; I have installed Email in my personal machine and I am starting to like it. Do you know which is more popular Quickmail or Email? We are currently using Quickmail but there might be a potential off switching to Email, we will see how things, go. Thanks for the en-utf8 language pack and the hint regarding changing tags.
I think I will mention an integrated, more functional email componant as one of the project ideas Martin asked everyone to generate.
So far I have been unsuccessful in finding a plug in or core moodle tool that achieves all this without requiring an enabled user email.
