I've just installed moodle and I'm loving it. Just perfect.
Everything has gone well except that I don't seem to be able to access my /moodle/admin/index.php file. During installation I made it all the way through the config process without problems but somehow skipped the administrator setup which meant I couldn't log in as an administrator later. I corrected this problem by editting the mdl_users and mdl_admin database tables per the instructions given in another post in this forum. Works great, I can now access all the admin buttons in that section.
Problem is that I can neither follow the small-print "admin..." link at the bottom of the administration block nor the breadcrumb link at the top. Clicking on either one will return a 500 error as follows:
Internal Server Error 500
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, and inform them of the time the error occurred and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
