here is an animation ( avi) done with a flowcharting tool from emu8086.com written in Visual Basic
I have started to modify it to log in moodle log table the work done bye the students with that external windows application.
Any equivalent tool in php or applet or ...?
Any others applications for logging non Moodle stuff?
I planned to let my students use it in november, and if some interest, I will post modified VB source and Moodle logging file when finished.
Just for everyones knowledge, i am testing out windows xp service pack 2 and Bernards email could not be displayed properly because of active x controls held within it.
i am running windows xp pro sp2 and office 2000.
animation zipped ( 16 times smaller, thanks Bill for the avi format )
Interesting: in simplified form it also could become the complement of (hidden) decision-trees like in lesson, so the user can get a "feeling" of the decision-space. So, yes tell me more in november..
- Is the (social) construcion of the flows easy enough for highschool students? The website makes that suggestion.
- It is also a kind of top-down modeling? (as complement of the bottom-up modeling in Starlogo)
I think that the user interface is easy enough for highschool students. You can test it now with the original version non Moodle aware.
It support flowchart call: higher level flowchart can call lower levels one.
But the drawing capabilities is limited to "program flowcharts". You can't add new symbols without modifying the visual basic interface.
It is good to want to give to the students a "feeling" of the decision-space in hidden decision-trees like in lesson. The flowchart representation is good for that but I think it will be more easy to use a tool like JpGraph to handle only the representation of the flowchart.
The visual basic tool support also the editing part, the linking of elements and the interpretation of the flowchart ( most complicated part of the software).
