add filter to "potential users" list when assigning students to course

Hi there

I have a Moodle-site with 2700 users. When I am assigning students to our courses I have to browse or search for each of the students participating the course. That is very time consuming...

Does anybody know of a hack to the assign.php page where it is possible to add a filter for department, surname etc., so the list gets a little shorter.

Ole - It should not be too difficult to do, I did find MDL-17780 which looks like it may have partially implemented this and I have suggested some comments on that issue for how I think it can be improved. Feel free to watch, comment, and vote on that issue as well as test the patches. Peace - Anthony
