I was wondering if it is possible in Moodle to create a course that anyone can see. No need to login as guest or anything. Just a simple click on the course and you can see its contents.
I'm asking because I want to set up a small CMS-area in our Moodle for my colleagues. And for parents to log in as guest would still be one click too many.
I hope some of you have experience with this!
I have been trying what you suggested above but I still can't get it to work... it may be something to do with how I have locked down the front page though - just trying to troubleshoot as I type...
Basically I want to be able to create a course that guests can use for anonymous questionnaires. So I am hoping I can provide a direct link to the site, theme it as appropriate and then allow them to complete the questionnaire (no logging in or enrolling). Can I just confirm that this is possible?
Many thanks. Ciara.
silly me, I was looking for users>permissions under the front page settings. As Mary notes below, this setting, which is only avail. to site admin role is located at.
Site Admin | Users | Permissions ...
Works like a charm. Once this was set, content in my course, where the course is set to allow guest access, comes right up, no need to click any login as guest buttons...
A related next question to this would be, can we allow users to enroll in a public course and subscribe to a forum if the course is set to auto login guests? No subscribe option is available for forums if they are not enrolled in the related course, but there is no option to enroll in the course if they are auto logged in as guest! My aim is to create a forum that is open for anyone to view, but which is open to subscribe to as well for those who wish to get email notifications.
I'm afraid guests cannot post in forums so if you wanted a course where they could contribute in forums you would have to have some form of account.
Actually I don't mind them having to log in. The problem is they can't enroll in a course if they are already automatically enrolled as guest... I need some way to allow them to view the forum without the trouble of logging in, but have a way to subscribe if they want to if they are logged in. Users can't subscribe if they are not enrolled in the course, even if they are logged in to Moodle. The course is set to allow guest access, so they are not asked to enroll, and I don't know how to enable them to enroll themselves, and I don't know how to automatically enroll everyone such that new users are auto enrolled to the course as well... Does that make more sense?
There is self enrolment without any key http://docs.moodle.org/26/en/enrol/self/edit - so users could re-enrol after logging in without any password etc. The snag with forum subscribe is that you need an eMail address, for this you need an account. When a user logs in they are no longer a guest and hence are not enrolled on the course through guest access, so can re-enrol.
Back with M1.9 I accidentally enrolled all course creators on a course without them enrolling. It was a mistake, just need to thing what happened as that would be the solution with the authenticated user role.
