A slightly better answer is that you need to follow the Roadmap, and, in particular the 'Moodle 2.0 Planning document' linked to from the top. That gives you an indication of how much work there still is to do.
Add to that several months of beta testing. (Of course, crazy people have been known to go live with beta versions in the past, but that is not recommended.)
