Unfortunately the questionnaire is not recognized as an upcoming event nor does it even mention closing time. Hence I must create an event to notify student a questionnaire activity is assigned. But as we all know - manually created events create havoc in Moodle because if you share any activity with a course (import or backup/restore) ALL the manually created events come along as well.
It would be great if the questionnaire was like any other activity (quiz or assignment) and showed up in upcoming event (or had choice to not display).
Also as an aside - it would be nice if there were more flexibility in exporting the data. Right now it comes as a flat file and I have to use a database tool to transpose the flat file into something readable by a database.

Please only one question per post.
Question #1 upcoming event
Probably the reason why Questionnaire instances do not appear in the Upcoming events (nor in Calendar) is because of the various "respond types" which can be set: respond many times / once / daily / weekly / monthly. It would seem reasonable to push Questionnaire instances of the "respond once" type to the Upcoming events/Calendar blocks. If that is what you want, then I might try to investigate, but I do not promise anything as I have no idea how easy/difficult/impossible adding this feature might be.
I am glad to report that pushing the Questionnaire instances to the Upcoming events (and calendar) is not as difficult to implement as I originally thought. And it can be implemented for all types of questionnaire instances, i.e. respond once, many times, daily, etc.
I only need a couple of days to carry on more tests before committing. I will post here when it's ready.
Thanks for asking for this feature.
Translators: please note that 2 new strings have been added to the lang files for English and French. Please update your translation files and send to me (see my address in my profile). Or post your translation here and I will update the lang. files.
$string['questionnairecloses'] = 'Questionnaire Closes';
$string['questionnaireopens'] = 'Questionnaire Opens';
In Italian the two strings are:
$string['questionnairecloses'] = 'Chiusura del questionario';
$string['questionnaireopens'] = 'Apertura del questionario';
$string['questionnaireopens'] = 'Upitnik se otvara';
Question #2 exporting the data
> it would be nice if there were more flexibility in exporting the data. Right now it comes as a flat file...
The text file is precisely the format which offers the most flexibility, because you can do what you like with it. I have explained my reasons for this being the only export format available in this post.
