We use lessons for several blended learning programs for cancer health care staff where the lesson (or quiz) covers the theory and then staff undertake clinical support and finally assessment of competence. Obviously The theory is captured by the assessable activity in Moodle.
Is there some way I can record their attainment of clinical competence in Moodle so as to capture the entire learning experience in Moodle?

Did you check something like Assignment module, that I believe allows you to enter a grade or what ever for an off line activity. I don't have the hands on experience with this or the 1.9 Grades.

Right, Chris. The Offline Activity allows for a grade and a comment by the instructor.
