Courses and course formats

Dear all

I have a course (topic view) and several activities in it (assignments and quizzes so far).

I would like to display the overall feedback (usually something like "passed", "not passed") next to each activity in the course overview page (namely: /course/view.php).

I already figured out where to put the little piece of code. In Moodle 1.9 it's course/lib.php line 1400 (part of the print_section() function).

However, I was not able to find a general method to access the feedback of an activity (or at least of the activities assignment and quiz).
