Teaching with Moodle

Hi folks,

I was wondering if anyone had any strategies for handling course extensions within Moodle?

Here is the scenario. A subject is created to run for a semester, however, we allow students the ability to apply for extensions in particular circumstances. We could simply extend the end date of the subject to a later date, however, this is problematic as different students may have different extension periods. By extending the end date of the course however, all students will be able to access the material for a longer date, and cause confusion with real end date versus extended end date etc.

What would be the best case scenario for us would for us to just extend access for certain students for certain periods, which I know you can do by setting individual end dates, however, we would have to go in and turn everyone's end date to a value to use this.

I would be keen to hear how people are handling the concept of course extensions in their organisations.
