This book looks very outdated to me. However, the story seems to be still relevant to todays youths. Ponyboy is an interesting character. Even though he is so smart, he lives in a very tough social envirnoment. His brothers did support him to finish school, however, the whole neigborhood is involved in fighting against each other. The Grease wants to show that they are different than the Socs who has way more social advantage. Different groups have different cultures. People just want to assert their identities and show others that they are important. Vienna
