Internet Explorer Won't open existing content - Please Help!

Happy New Year to you all,

We've just upgraded our MOODLE from 1.7 to 1.9.3, (through 1.8.4) its gone brilliantly with one exception! Everytime a learner tries to open a learning object of any kind he is presented with a warning that informs:-

"Interent Explorer has blocked this site from using an ActiveX control in an unsafe manner. As a result, this page may not display correctly"

Well the content is safe and I'm happy to run it but the drop down box does not have the usual "run activex" type bypass control.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix this please or signpost to previous discussion as I can't be the first to fall foul of this, appreciate all efforts and time taken to help.

We have the same problem (though we think it is just with Powerpoint files in a particular course), and the only suggestions I can find on the net are to effectively reduce the security on your IE - which I would prefer not to do site-wide!

Is there any other solution?

I have just been shown a solution (or workaround). When setting up the resource document, get it to open in a NEW window, not in the same window. Obviously IE doesn't like it opening in the same window, for some reason.
