Assignment

Hello,

We would like to use Moodle as a classroom event management tool.

In other posts I read that the Assignment activity may be best for this purpose.

However, we will need more info about the training events (e.g., link to map, instructor name, etc.) than is available in the current Moodle 'Activity' edit page.

In browsing the moodle tables, i notice that mdl_assignment has 5 columns named var1-5. Are these available for arbitrary developer use? If so, my next question is where can I go to find out how to add some controls to the 'Assignment' page in moodle so that my classroom course admins can enter info about training sites into them.

I am a relatively experienced php/mysql developer, so the jdbc sql/etc will not be a problem.
