Can not restore

The Backup and restore FAQ's entry regarding failure to restore only addresses the problem resulting from different versions of Moodle. In my case, I am backing up a course and trying to restore it to a new course on the same installation of Moodle so the version is identical. Things work fine until it gets to

Creating course modules
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 201326592 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 5 bytes) in .../moodle/lib/xmlize.php on line 53

Obviously the problem is related to memory and I CAN restore the file on my test server (which has the same Moodle files but a different version of PHP and more memory allocated in php.ini).

Does Eric's fix raise the memory cap above that specified by php.ini?

In any case, assuming that Eric's fix is a solution to cases where php.ini has the memory limit set too low, it would be wise to include it in the Backup and restore FAQ. If the root problem requires raising the memory cap in php.ini, that should also be added to the FAQ. (If I actually knew the answers to these questions, I would modify the FAQ myself.)
