LDAP Authentication and Internal Matriculation

LDAP Authentication and Internal Matriculation

Hello everybody,

First of all, I'm new in this world of moodle. I've allways been developing courses rather than administering the platform.

And now, the problem:

One of our clients has a moodle installation that authenticate users via LDAP.

The fact is that they don't know (neither do I) why users cannot enrole themselves on a course.

They aren't using LDAP for enroling users. Teachers manually enrol each student in the course, but they would like to allow authentcated users to enrol themselves on courses.

Could it be the configuration of user enrolment being set to LDAP instead of Internal? (I'm not sure of this, but I'll try to find the actual configuration) By the way, Is it possible and what are the implications of setting the enrolment to Internal and the authentication to LDAP?

Thank you very much in advance,

V.

It sounds like the courses might have been created as non-enrolable. There is a setting for each course called (i think) enrollable; it has the options of yes,no and enrolement key. It should be set to yes
