I am having trouble hiding grades from students (v1.9 beta 4). I have gone into Grades / ▶ Edit / ▶ Item and selected Hidden, and have also used Hidden Until and unchecked the Disable button. Students are still able to see their respective grade when they click on Assignments under the Activities block.
I have also hidden the Grades link in the Administration block by selecting Settings and selecting No for Show grades.
The only way I can hide grades at the moment is to hide the actual link to the assignment.
Am I doing something wrong; we really need to moderate grades across markers before releasing them to students.

Have you tried with the latest 1.9 release? 1.9b4 is quite old now, and it is likely that this bug was fixed since then. Try 1.9.3 and let us know if you're having the same issue.

I just had to sort this out on our moodle. Search for the Keyholder role.

this worked for me. Set up the keyholder role then use teh internal enrolement settings to specify keyholder to show up when pupils need to enrol on a course. This means that the Keyholder could have any other role within the course (not just an editing teacher.
