Clarifying the cron timing of sending mail

Clarifying the cron timing of sending mail

I was so worried that my new script to launch cron/php wasn't working. Then we had a plumbing emergency and I've just spent an hour mopping floors and came back up here to find the mail has been delivered.

Then I thought about the ability to return and edit a post to the forum. My setting is for 30 minutes.

So when someone posts to a forum and they have 30 minutes to edit, that means when the cron runs it won't send mail on that post until *after* the 30 minutes window for editing the post?

Thanks again for all the help.

That's right - mail copies of posts aren't sent until the mail is finalised. The same time limit applies to notifications of journal and assignment feedback in a slightly different way - these mailouts aren't sent until 30 minutes (or whatever you've set for "maxeditingtime") after the last edit by the teacher.

When I'm testing I turn maxeditingtime down to 1 minute.
