I would agree that, as long as you only connect the Linux box to your own XP system only, and not to the Internet, it doesn't matter how insecure it is. But if you connect a computer to the Internet, and your only basis for considering it secure is that all ports except 80 are blocked, that's unimaginably absurd. There are many kinds of attacks that can be waged against a system using only port 80. Especially if you use passwords that are easy to guess, like hobbit or elizabeth2 or abcd1234.
