I have to say, reading the headings of the commit msgs now makes a ton of sense -- thanks to all the team. Just looking at http://git.catalyst.net.nz/gitweb?p=moodle-r2.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/cvshead right now, the msgs are excellent at capturing intent -- reading "MDL-17130 dml: removed lambda-style functions - they might be a major scalability problem in future" made me immediately want to read it.
In short, just reading the headers you can spot what's happening, and what's specially valuable. Great.
And thanks to Tim - the wiki page update looks good, and includes nice examples.
