Based on a moodle implementation of UPC, I have made this first aproximation for a moodle infrastructure that support 100.000 students in an 100% virtual environment.
I apreciate suggestions.

Some questions just for clarification:
- "a moodle infrastructure that support 100.000 students in an 100% virtual environment."
What is meant by 100% virtual environment? AFAICS all the machines in the diagram are physical
- possible network bottleneck
All the clients of those 100'000 students converge to one network link marked "Cluster SVS para acceso HTTP". What is the estimated throughput at that point?
- database(s)
The 10 frontends (Nodo1 .. Nodo 10) do they run webserver _and_ DBMS? If so how you synchronise the databases?
- $MOODLEDATA
Is obviously in the SAN, all 10 nodes mount the same physical filesystem, right?

I too am trying to get my head around the scalability of Moodle, so don't have any answers, just more questions
I am looking at a 50,000 user environment with 5000 concurrent users (estimated).
It's hard to pick through the posts to find any up to date onfo on the setup required for such an environment, and from what i can see so far, the commercial LMS that we currently use seems to be a much more efficient and reliable set up.
My heart says Moodle, but my head says commercial!
Can anyone shortcut me to the answers?
