Today we came across a big problem. I will write down what we did before this. We have upgraded to Moodle 1.9 and for the first 2 weeks of term it was working fine, we then changed the the names of some groups and created some new groups, but we still didn't have a problem. Then this morning we have found that one of our courses (not all of them) has locked all of the submissions. If a student hasn't submitted anything you can still 'grade' but those who have submitted we can't remark. This causes a problem because we allow resubmitting.
We have had a look and under each student it states that they have been 'locked' but we don't understand how this could of happened. We would like to know if there is a way to unlock all of the submissions and students without doing each one individually as that would be about 500 students per assignment (about 30 assignments) so it would take forever.
We don't mind running an SQL command (we are are on LAMP) if there is no option within Moodle itself.

Can you clarify what you mean when you say they have been 'locked'? Is this on the assignment submissions page, or in the gradebook, or are you referring to the student accounts?
