Am hoping to be able to embed video, using for example, youtube embed code in glossary entries. Clicking ont he < > button permits pasting the code, but on saving it, no link to the youtube vid is made, and on re-opening it in < >, the code is lost.
This is not the case in many other parts of Moodle.
Am experiencing this particular problem in 1.9
Thanks for any light that you might be able to shed.

Uncheck the Box in the Admin section for:
Remove HTML tags from all activity namesformatstringstriptags
Then it should work
its not a bug, ist a feature

do you mean Admin as in the left (by default) Site Administration box? If so, where in that? If not, where exactly is this namesformatstringstriptag.
I'll be very happy to have this working.

Search in the admin area for
"namesformatstringstriptags" and DISABLE this
Uncheck this setting to allow HTML tags in activity and resource names
There are other restrictions for users you may check/uncheck them by searching for "html"

Sorry, but I've spent an hour looking everywhere and can not find this. Could you tell me in which of the 13 folders in the Admin block it's in. And if in a subfolder ...
Below the text box I am writing in now, it says HTML format and the help button does not tell us how to change to any of those formats. I am assuming this is the same thing we are aiming to turn off.
Thanks
James

It's formatstringstriptags, and it can be found in Site Administration -> Appearance -> HTML Settings.
It's a fairly new setting, so you might not have it.

Thanks Peter - I really did use the search facility.
Thanks Ann - I don't have HTML settings, only HTML editor.
I am using Moodle 1.9 Beta 2 (2007101503)
There is no other way to embed video in the glossary?

your domain ...admin/settings.php?section=htmlsettings
your domain ... admin/settings.php?section=sitepolicies
try this
and
using the "search" field below the admin block at the frontpage searchin for "html" will show you all this links.

James
just use the search field below the admin block,
no need to click on all links

Is there another way of embedding video? When one's not an administrator, and "our" moodle administrator is not so willing or available to go through these change, it is rather frustrating not to be able to do such a useful thing...

You could try EXE software and export as a scorm module into your class.
