My topic sections have gotten fairly lengthy, to the point where users get lost when they click on a book resource, read it, and then return to the topic. I'd like for the book resources to open in a separate window, instead of the topic window. I can't seem figure out a way to do that. I'm using moodle 1.9.
Can anyone help?

One way to do this would be as follows;
- copy the book's url
- create a "link to file or website" resource
- use the book's url as the resource's link
- open resource in a new window
If you want to then hide your books as otherwise you will have more than a fairly lengthy page;
- go to your course settings and add a topic section
- move all the books you have linked to into the new section
- when all books have been moved, put the number of topics in the course settings back to what it was before you changed it
