At our Bible College (WHBTC) in Salford (UK) we run up to 8 sessions a day (morning + evening) for 3 different groups (Year 1 Part/Full time & Year 2 Full time)
We would like students to use a scanning system (Barcodes or something else) so we can track their attendance. They should just scan in in the morning and scan out in the afternoon. (Not in and out for each session) We want the system to automatically recognise which student was late/absent/left early from which session etc.
This would free any admin staff from having to log the students attendance manually. (We have different rules for international students (stricter) and we have a very strict attendance/make up policy - more below)
We already have a simple version of this idea working on a MS Access Database but would like to develop a Moodle version so that students can view their attendance directly on the web.
Our attendance policy tries to discourage absentism by forcing students to buy CDs/Mp3s of missed sessions hand in make up notes. We want our module to selectively charge students for Mp3 downloads at different prices depending on whether or not they missed the session.
Furthermore the system should be able to keep track of the submission, approval/rejection of make up notes and be able to do reporting at any level.
Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.
