Restricting Role/permission of user for a Block on Frontpage

Can we restrict the Role/permission of a user for a Block/Activity/Resource on Frontpage in moodle 1.8. For example for a forum, upcoming/latest event, label, webpage, resource(s), database etc. If we can do it then how it can be done? Will this previlage allow and restrict editing options available only to one activity.

Hi,

I think your problem will be trying to do this in v1.8 - if you upgrade to v1.9 then this functionality is included in terms of restricting block access as well as restricting activities to specific groups of students.

I am interested to see that only selected users can post and edit any resource or activity like forum by providing them permission, when all other visitors of the website can have access to the froum/content.
